Galerie Cécile Fakhoury — Abidjan, Dakar, Paris — is pleased to announce its participation to the sixth edition of the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London.

Following the success of its last shows at the fair in London, New York and Marrakech, the gallery is returning to exhibit at the leading international event dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora.

This year, the group show presented by the gallery will feature a body of works by four acclaimed artists. Strongly rooted in their respective identities and stories, they distinguish themselves through the use of original artistic languages to foster new perspectives, beyond geographical borders.

Internationally recognized for his vibrant large-scale paintings, Aboudia (born in 1983 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, lives and work in New York and Abidjan) draws his inspiration from his live experience among the Youth and the flow of the urban megalopolises, working on contrasts, mixing pictural elements of insouciance in a dark, interiorized world.

The painter Sadikou Oukpedjo (born in 1975 in Kétao, Togo, lives and work in Abidjan) questions the notions of origins and heritage through the prism of current issues in West Africa, whereas the œuvre of Dalila Dalléas Bouzar (born in 1974 in Oran, Algeria, lives and work in Bordeaux) relies on her personal path and addresses to our collective memory. She reinterprets archival photographs and documents through painting.

Dimitri Fagbohoun (born in 1972 in Cotonou, Benin, lives and works between Cotonou, Paris and Brussels) creates sculptures, installations and videos transcending his cultural background and history into themes of memory, politics, faith and philosophy, creation and destruction.
