Within the framework of a first sponsorship between Black Containers and the Compagnie Fruitières, Nestor Da was immersed at the heart of the Compagnie Fruitière’s ripening facilities at Chateaurenard in the Bouches du Rhône.
The making of a serie about the fruit chain fits in his preoccupations and what could have been seen as a formal exercise turns out to be a artistic serie which deals, amongst other, with the place of the Man into the banana organic chain.
Indeed, Nestor Da develops the them of the banana, from its birth in Africa to its ripening in Europe by making collages-pictures which are specific of his work. Pictures which are portraits of palce, men, women, from here and there. United in a same work effort around a feeder fruit.
The unusual presence of a photographer in a context of low-temperature ripening has provoked warm relationships illustrating the adage of art seen as an relationnal aesthetic process described by Nicolas Bourriaud.
