Galerie Cécile Fakhoury is pleased to announce that the artist François-Xavier Gbré is the winner of the Louis Roederer Discovery Prize of the Rencontres de la Photographie d'Arles, ex-aequo with the photographer Poulomi Basu.
François-Xavier Gbré wins this prestigious prize with his photographic installation Emergence, Abidjan, Ivory Coast 2013-2020. In this installation of 57 photographs, François-Xavier Gbré documents the evolution of Abidjan. Through an in-depth investigation of the urban territory, through the prism of time, architecture and nature, he recomposes a landscape, a horizon and sketches the experience of the people of Abidjan.
