Après l’école, artpress biennial of young artists

The exhibition will bring together 32 artists who have graduated from French public art schools and are already engaged in an artistic career, selected by a jury chaired by the Spanish director and artist Albert Serra.

Associating the contemporary art magazine artpress, MO.CO. Montpellier Contemporain, Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole and the City of Montpellier, the biennial will take over several rooms of the Musée Fabre, the entire MO.CO. Panacée as well as the Espace Dominique Bagouet, thus offering visitors a real urban artistic journey. It intends to give the young artists selected the opportunity to exhibit in the best conditions. It will be echoed at the Frac Occitanie Montpellier and at the École supérieure des beaux-arts, both of which will host exhibitions of young graduate and student artists at the same time.

Après l'école is a biennial event for art critics. It is curated in collaboration with the partners by Étienne Hatt, deputy editor-in-chief of artpress, and Romain Mathieu, art school teacher and critic. It does not propose a sampling of young creation. It reconciles a generous presentation of each artist with dialogue and tension, giving a reading of the most current practices and issues. It gives rise to a catalog published by artpress including essays on the scene outlined and notes on each of the artists. Après l'école is accompanied by a cultural program in partner venues.
