This exhibition bears witness to the connivance between these artists and, above all, to the artistic effervescence created here at Kumo, the name of their studio in Ivry.
Having met in part at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where they already shared a workspace, they have reproduced a similar working environment.
This shared space, physically open and with very few partitions, gives free rein to exchanges, but also to glances. Although each works independently, meetings, however brief, are held on a daily basis, always enriching and enriching their work. In this interview, they were unanimous in evoking the preciousness of daily exchanges and moments of sharing.
Some of the works presented in the "Instants croisés" exhibition bear witness to these creative interweavings, to the real imprint of each artist's work on that of the others: by representing each other or placing a reproduction or detail of one of their paintings in the background of a portrait. In this way, they reflect the tender regard each has for the work of the other.
"Instants croisés" also means shared moments: the works carry within them, to varying degrees but without doubt, the memory of the daily exchanges and advice that accompanied the period of their creation. Some of them even depict objects from the studio that carry with them something of the essence of this working environment: respectful and resolutely inspiring.
