Adji Dieye, winner of the Prix Ducato 2023, contemporary section, presented the work "Untitled Black, Culture Lost and Learned by Heart" (2022). The work consists of a long sheet of silk printed with images from the artist's personal archive and the National Archives of Senegal, which passes through a wrought-iron frame.
These images focus on two different periods in Senegal's history: some come from the French colonial era and deal with the construction of the nation-state, while others deal with the country's current situation, the construction of a market economy with the involvement of the Chinese state.
