Textimoov ! @ Tripostal : Mariam Abouzid Souali

17 May - 29 September 2024

Curator: Caroline David

Eighteen years after its first edition in 2006 and an exemplary run in several cities around the world, textiles return to the Tripostal over 6,000 m2 with the Textimoov! exhibition, the sixth edition of Futurotextiles. New times, new inventions: habits have changed, but engineers and designers are still forerunners, inventing the world of tomorrow.

Aimed at a broad public, the all-new exhibition will showcase the latest textile discoveries and trends from around the world, with a particular focus on France, the Hauts-de-France region, the Lille European Metropolis and our Belgian neighbors. It will combine the latest scientific technological innovations with artistic creation in all its forms.

This new edition of Futurotextiles will be connected with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Sport, as an actor and source of innovation, will link the artistic and scientific worlds with that of business.

Sport and innovation are intimately linked. The former offers a wide field of expression for the latter to optimize the performance of professional or amateur athletes and provide them with ever greater comfort. From ancestral know-how to new high-tech practiceś, the field of exploration is immense.
A trademark of Futurotextiles, the exhibition will bring together industrial prototypes and new materials with artistic creations taking up references from the world of sport and urban cultures. The worlds of business and art will showcase new discoveries and the very latest trends in textiles.

lille3000 imagines an exhibition with a futuristic scenography. Le Tripostal will be divided into three levels.

On the first floor, an open space in perpetual motion, accessible free of charge, will plunge us into a streetwear, urban universe. A Pop!Corner will host emerging fashion schools from the region.

On the second floor, Activewear will take center stage, focusing on performance sports. Upcycling, recycling, technical textiles, the latest composite sports accessories and the most improbable outfits imagined by visionary designers will follow one another.

On the second floor, visitors will experience a change of atmosphere. As they travel to the future, they'll be transported to the Moon and Mars, where habitat and clothing, modes of communication and transport, and the omnipresence of textiles, will come together.

Echoing the fields of sports textiles and space exploration, contemporary artists will illustrate, in their own way, visions of these themes, associating them with societal aspects or their visionary imaginations.
