Cécile Fakhoury Gallery is pleased to announce the participation of artist Fanny Irina in the group exhibition Dear Melpomene, curated by Mélanie Bouteloup and Armelle Pradalier, co-directors of the "Artists & Exhibition Practices" program, alongside Giulia Longo, curator of prints and photographs at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, and the program's students.
Like a storyteller, Fanny Irina shares narratives inhabited by hybrid characters. Through the variety of materials she explores - pencil, pastel, painting on textile, ceramic - recurring themes emerge, evoking a world at the crossroads of the fantastical and the intimate.
Fanny Irina's universe carries an atmosphere drawn from childhood - a sincerity in form and a presence of the body, not as a body in becoming, but as a body in itself, still untouched by the imprints of life, which make themselves known precisely through their absence. With a line full of gentleness that does not shy away from the ambiguity of memory, the artist's works move fluidly between worlds. The bodies depicted all seem to exist on the same plane - in their gestures as well as in their forms - with skin like fur, and physicality as something preserved from social judgment.
