To Heal / Curar is the first of three exhibitions of the suite RESTORE, a project curated by Gabriela Salgado and commissioned by Hangar.
The exhibition includes works by five international artists: Gabriel Chaile (AR-based in Lisbon), Dalila Dalléas Bouzar (AL-FR), Andrew Esiebo (NG), Carla Guagliardi (BR/DE) and Ayrson Heráclito (BR).
To Heal-Curar, is an imaginary offering that encourages well-being, articulating an impulse to cure the numerous ills of our time. Employing allegory, ritual and visual poetics, the artists convey multiple knowledge systems, emphasising equilibrium over anxiety, building hope over despair and positive action against climate aggravation.
Through photography, site-specific sculptures, video and a newly commissioned performance and collective activations, the works are subtle triggers that aim to alleviate the effects of current manifestations of violence by advancing humans’ capacity to rebuild from the ashes..
