Organized as part of the « Cours du soir » exhibition by Cheikh Ndiaye, which also features the film "Sembene: The Making of African Cinema," directed in 1994 by Manthia Diawara and Kenyan writer Ngugi Wa Thiong'o, this conversation about cinema will bring together historian Mamadou Diouf, professor of African studies and director of the Institute of African Studies at Columbia University (New York), historian and filmmaker Manthia Diawara, professor in the Department of Cinema Studies at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, and artist Cheikh Ndiaye, moderated by journalist and film critic Baba Diop.
In collaboration with the publishing house Ròt-Bò-Krik, the bookstore Plumes du Monde, and Galerie Cécile Fakhoury, the meeting will also provide an opportunity for the signing of Mamadou Diouf's latest work, "L’Afrique dans le temps du monde," published on October 20, 2023, by Ròt-Bò-Krik editions, as well as the first monograph by Cheikh Ndiaye, "Archives du Soleil / Archives of the Sun" (Suture Editions).
