Confluences explores complexities and nuances of social justice issues connected to notions of Italy, which cannot be considered a single geographical, cultural, political, or social space. In response to the partial historical accounts and fictionally uniform contemporary identities ascribed to this “imagined” place, the exhibition presents recent generations of artists whose multidisciplinary work counters such homogeneities and addresses a complex spectrum of topics, from historic and contemporary forms of societal amnesia to present-day strategies of civic activism.
