ART BASEL PARIS 2025 @ STAND 1.G7, Grand Palais: BINTA DIAW
Galerie Cécile Fakhoury is please to present a solo show by Senegalese and Italian artist Binta Diaw (b. 1995 in Milan, Italy; lives and works between Milan, Italy and Dakar, Senegal).
Binta Diaw’s practice explores the social phenomena shaping our contemporary world, from migration and belonging to archives, memory, and gender. Through installations and site-specific projects — often on a monumental scale — she creates spaces where materiality, context, and sensory experience intertwine.
Drawing on intersectional and ecofeminist thought, Diaw uses earth, plants, water, stone, hair, and sometimes her own body as a visual language. These elements evoke both our organic, ever-changing condition and our existence as social and political beings.
Rooted in her diasporic and fluid identity, Diaw challenges dominant historical narratives and proposes a decentered reading of history. With striking economy of means, her works act as complex and powerful rewritings of collective memory.
For her first presentation at Art Basel Paris, Galerie Cécile Fakhoury is delighted to present a new series of photographs from the Paysage Corporel [Body Landscape] series as well as an installation.
