Overview

At a time when crises are multiplying, dominant narratives are closing down our horizons, and the Earth’s vital resources are being depleted, there is an urgent need to come together to build fairer and more sustainable ways of living. It is this immediate, political and collective necessity that the fifteen artists presented in the exhibition Sowing Our Resistance explore.

While struggle can take the form of demands and power struggles, it can also be embodied in transgression, in the attention we pay to vulnerability, in acknowledging our own privileges, in dismantling toxic narratives, and in the stories we share and pass on. Empathy, attentiveness, imagination and care thus become subversive forces, capable of nurturing profound individual, collective, societal and environmental transformations.

Through the work of fifteen artists, the exhibition Sowing Our Resistance celebrates these actions that plant the seeds of a joyful dissent, in the service of other ways of inhabiting the Earth—ways that are attentive to all living things and to otherness. More than this, it is an invitation to come together and collectively imagine and create the world we wish to see come into being.
