Résidence @ theMatter Art Project: Carl-Edouard Keïta

Artist Carl-Edouard Keïta is currently undertaking a residency at theMatter, an experimental and creative space dedicated to artistic research, as part of the preparation for its 2026 programme.

theMatter is an artistic project founded in Dakar in 2017. It takes shape during each OFF of the Dakar Biennale, or through spontaneous initiatives, in different locations and forms of expression, while maintaining the same spirit at every iteration: a free-form endeavour driven more by passion than by reason; a desire to evoke the realm of the senses in territories where words are no longer quite necessary; an introspective journey into the heart of a collective that creates connections; a bodily and physical relationship with the matter that shapes us and surrounds us; an immersion into hybrid and unexpected worlds, at the threshold of the visible.

theMatter is a space for experimentation, creation and sharing, whose primary purpose is to showcase the talent of African artists and artists from the diaspora.
