Galerie Cécile Fakhoury (Abidjan, Dakar, Paris) is pleased to present the solo exhibition of the painter Aboudia for the first time in Paris.
Revealed in 2011 by his paintings depicting Ivorian youth in the turmoil of the post-election crisis, Aboudia has established himself in a decade as the leader of a generation of Abidjanese visual artists who have become heralds of the challenges overcome by the Ivorian working class in the aftermath of the war.
A decade later, the children of war have grown up. The weapons have disappeared from the canvas, but the works of the artist-phenomenon Aboudia have remained faithful to this urgency, to this imperative of survival. The recurrence of graffiti, the superimposition of images and fleeting gestures are the direct components of the urban genesis of his work, the legacy of a time when the artist had only the walls to express himself.
