On the occasion of the inauguration of Abidjan Studio, the gallery's new space, we are pleased to present Kôguôè*, a solo exhibition by Bamouin Sinzé, a young Ivorian artist.
Inaugurated at the beginning of March 2020, Abidjan Studio is the new exhibition space located in front of the original gallery, opened in 2012. It is dedicated to emerging creation and special projects.
Through paintings and wax sculptures, Bamouin Sinzé unveils part of his plastic research and invites us to plunge into the intimacy of his nocturnal wanderings, in a fragile balance between mirages and realities.
*The night in baoulé -
Bamouin Sinzé, with a candle in his hand, draws lines, circles and curves in the air under his upside down canvas, most of the time at night, like invisible writing. The smoke transcribes these gestures on the canvas by grey and vaporous, fragile marks. The evanescence thus appears to be at the centre of his work. The artist seeks to represent a fragment of immortalized time, to seize the impalpable, to represent what inexorably ends up disappearing.
