Galerie Cécile Fakhoury is pleased to announce its participation in the Partcours, which takes place in Dakar from Friday 26 November to Sunday 12 December 2021.

In the imaginary landscape of Dakar, this play on words is interwoven like the organic building materials of a construction site that never ends. This edifice based on cultural spaces engages countless architects: artists, curators, gallery owners, collectors, framers, teachers, enthusiasts, passers-by, visitors, the curious, students, traders, actors, dancers...

If the name evokes an acrobatic discipline, it is indeed an art of movement, a race against the clock, a meeting that emits a vibration in the city, a pulsar that sends back the echo of a patient work to make live every year this new and unique experience on the African continent.

This urban weaving through the districts draws another map of the city, a sensitive geography of a Dakar that is being renewed. It is a tool, a guide, a link between order and disorder. A common and free space where belongings and visions are mixed. A commitment to make what is not equal.

Today the Partcours is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Ten years of adventures, meetings, parties, tributes and memories. Ten years that have engraved a part of the history of art in Senegal in our memory.

The Partcours does not pride itself on a hegemonic vision of the Dakar cultural scene, aware that under the human oceans lies the greatest part of what exists, submerged. But it is the hopes, the collective forces, the generations, the flames of life, that give the will to act and the strength to move forward.

This is the Partcours' view of his early childhood. The view of his parents, his uncles, his friends, his godparents. The view of the actors who helped him grow up, of his shy beginnings. From this seed planted in the soil, a plant with travelling roots is now emerging.

This year, the coordination of the Partcours was also editorial, with a volunteer group in charge of designing and publishing a book to mark the tenth edition. You will find it during your wanderings through the Partcours 10. It is an adventure in our image, collegial, which, more than a simple retrospective, presents a reflection on art in the city, the role of cultural institutions, and the face of a changing Dakar.

Ten years of Partcours is also an affirmation: proof that it is possible to reinvent institutional and political models through the governance of civil societies. Proof that it is possible to adapt a system to its environment through collective work and individual commitment.

Besbu delou ci moo neex! Happy Birthday!
