From December 4 to 15, 2023, the United Nations Building in Geneva will host the exhibition Italian Art and Human Rights, curated by Ilaria Bernardi. The exhibition coincides with the campaign promoted by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (10.11.1948).
A total of sixteen Italian artists-born or naturalized-were selected to enliven the Swiss UN headquarters: Stefano Arienti, Rossella Biscotti, Monica Bonvicini, Danilo Correale, Binta Diaw, Irene Dioniso, Victor Fotso Nyie, Silvia Giambrone, Emilio Isgrò, Mimmo Jodice, Elena Mazzi, Francis Offman, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Rä di Martino, Silvia Rosi, and Marinella Senatore.
Each work on display is accompanied by an in-depth text-which ideally connects it to one of the nodal themes of the Declaration, thus creating a narrative in images.
The exhibition is promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is in collaboration with the Genesi Association, which has always been committed to the defense of Human Rights through the languages of contemporary art.
