Mythologies @ Centre Culturel Georges Ginesta: Assoukrou Aké, Roméo Mivekannin, Sadikou Oukpedjo

14 June - 12 October 2024

“MythologieS” follows on from the monumental exhibition “ExodeS”, presented in Saint-Raphaël during the summer of 2022. Having already met with great success with one of Europe's largest contemporary art tours, the town is once again calling on Simone Dibo-Cohen, President of the Union Méditerranéenne pour l'Art Moderne (UMAM), to organize this multidisciplinary exhibition.

SAILING BETWEEN DREAM AND REALITY

Freedom of expression, eclecticism and singularity: these are the watchwords of this ambitious exhibition, accessible to neophytes and seasoned art lovers alike. Following in the footsteps of Roland Barthes in his book “Mythologies”, this large-scale event is an invitation to reflect on the narratives that surround us on all sides, and to scratch away the surface to reveal their sometimes obscure depths. Surprising, disconcerting and fascinating, “MythologieS” takes us on a journey that transcends all temporal, spatial, cultural and artistic boundaries. A mirror of our aspirations, fears and dreams, this exhibition reminds us of the essential role played by mythologies in the construction of our identities, our values and our societies. An ode to curiosity and reflection, inviting each and every one of us to plunge into the meanders of our own imagination.
