"I saw that video, Turbulent, which was a big shock. Made in 1998, it won an award at the Venice Biennale in 1999. Two projections placed face to face, man and woman, united by their Iranian nationality, each sing in turn. When the man sings, the woman is silent and vice versa. I like the way Shirin Neshat conceives the condition of women while always relating it to that of men. It's a revolutionary point of view. " DDB
Born in 1957 in Iran, Shirin Neshat, is an Iranian video artist and photographer living in New York. After dedicating herself to photography, she has been using video as a creative medium since the mid-1990s. Her work relates to the social, cultural and religious codes of Muslim societies, and the complexity of certain oppositions. Shirin Neshat's work deals with the social, political and psychological dimensions of women's lives in contemporary Islamic societies, while rejecting formally polemical art. Her work acknowledges the complexity of the intellectual and religious forces shaping the identity of Muslim women around the world. Her video and sound installation with two screens, Turbulent was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 1999. -

"Jean-Honoré Fragonard and François Boucher have been revelations at the age of 16. I love their treatment of the flesh, the body, the sensual. I like their touch and their lightness. " DDB
Jean-Honoré Nicolas Fragonard (1732-1806) is one of the main French rococo painters. A painter of history, genre and landscapes, he specialized quite quickly in the libertine genre and gallant scenes, following in the footsteps of François Boucher, as shown in his famous painting Le Verrou. With a virtuoso stroke, Fragonard knew how to show the whirlwind of the world through expressive and graceful gestures or vigorous drapes.
François Boucher (1730-1770) was a French painter, representative of the rococo style, court painter to Louis XV and a favourite of the Marquise de Pompadour, of whom he painted several portraits. He was a precious and sensual painter, using brilliant colours, serpentine lines and a profusion of picturesque accessories. His predilection for female nudes earned him the nickname "Painter of Graces" during his lifetime. -
