Born in Japan in 1941, Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese cartoonist, director and producer of Japanese animated films, co-founder of Studio Ghibli with Isao Takahata. Since the international release of Princess Mononokéen 1999, he has gained worldwide fame. He often explores the same central themes, humanity's relationship with nature, ecology and technology, as well as the difficulty of remaining pacifist in a world at war. Released in 2001, Chihiro's Journey tells the story of a ten-year-old girl who enters the spirit world. Hayao Miyazaki develops the themes of integration through collective work, initiatory travel, reconnection with ancestral values and the threat of modern society to nature and traditions. He won the Oscar for best animated film in 2003.

Hannah Arendt (1906-1975) is a naturalized German-American political scientist, philosopher and journalist, known for her work on political activity, totalitarianism, modernity and the philosophy of history. Hannah Arendt's political philosophy escapes the traditional categories of political thought (socialism, liberalism). Responsibility and Judgement, published posthumously in 2005, explores the banality of evil but also the power of thought, of one's own thought. Making a judgment and taking responsibility, everyone, whoever they are, can do so. Hannah Arendt reaffirms the importance of this act, which is not reserved for an elite.

Born in France in 1946, Claire Denis is a French writer and director. Her films are characterized by a certain violence, a research on cinematic form and a central relationship to the body. Released in 2018, High Life is a science fiction film, the story of a space mission outside the solar system. A filmmaker of otherness, bitter and powerful, radical and carnal, Claire Denis has for thirty years welcomed the diversity of genres and origins in her work. She is one of the most recognized contemporary French directors today.
