Jems Koko Bi, born in 1966 in Sinfra, Ivory Coast, and now living between Abidjan and Essen in Germany, is today a major figure in contemporary art in Ivory Coast and internationally. In his new solo exhibition at Galerie Cécile Fakhoury - Abidjan, entitled Patrimoine, he presents, in addition to a series of monumental sculptures, both strong and sensitive, a work of wood engraving, also called xylogravure. In his studio in Angré, a district of Abidjan, we saw the creation of these engravings, which bear witness to the almost strange power of the appearance of forms and the revelation of colours.
