In Abidjan, Galerie Cécile Fakhoury is pleased to announce two group exhibitions: Le seuil de nos azurs (The Threshold of Our Azures), on view from October 11 to November 8, presented as a prelude to L’EAU-TEL, a new exhibition by the collective École de l’Eau, composed of Nuits Balnéaires, Lafalaise Dion, and Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux.
What if the exhibition space became a site of silent questioning, urging us to consider, through multiple readings, the manifestations of our daily lives and habits? Gathered in a visual symphony, the works would then summon signs from our pasts and presents, illuminated by faint lights, inviting us to explore ancestral, former, or emerging memories.
Chanting our inner lights, azure and water serve here as guiding threads for this intimate journey — a meditative stroll through our environments, viewed from an eco-political perspective.
Le seuil de nos azurs is a group exhibition featuring works by Assoukrou Aké, Jess Atieno, Thibaut Bouedjoro-Camus, Eva Diallo, François-Xavier Gbré, Yo-Yo Gonthier, Fanny Irina, Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux, Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien, and Cheikh Ndiaye. It invites a profound reflection on the connection between our social and natural selves. A symbol with many facets, azure — as sky, air, or water — takes on the form of serenity in this body of work, but also of hope and purity, embodied in notions of sharing, mutual aid, and giving.
