Galerie Cécile Fakhoury is pleased to present in its spaces in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Dakar (Senegal) and Paris (France), the exhibition About Now #1 - emerging artists from Africa and beyond, a new exhibition dedicated to a young emerging scene linked to Africa and its diaspora in the world

About Now #1 reaffirms one of the founding commitments of the gallery's identity: its support for emerging creation. The exhibition is fully in line with this desire to celebrate the cycles of artistic creation, giving pride of place this time to the artists of tomorrow in Africa, and to those of the African diaspora throughout the world.

The exhibition brings together fifteen artists - nine women and six men - with an average age of no more than thirty, from ten countries around the world, including Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia, Morocco, the United States, South Africa, France and Ivory Coast.

About Now #1 is conceived as a subjective panorama, a sort of snapshot of creation at a given moment, a non-exhaustive proposal to grasp in their plurality the visions of today's young artists, their perception of contemporary society, their relationship to memory and tradition, the construction of the self in relation to otherness, the questioning of binary systems of thought or the redefinition of a sensitive link with nature.

In a world of complex dynamics where division and individualism are the primary tools of domination, About Now #1 chooses to celebrate the strengths of the collective by inviting the public to look beyond established geographies. Between Abidjan, Dakar and Paris, the exhibition is a unique proposition, with the same opening date for all three venues, echoing celebrations and a constant and multiple dialogue between the proposals of the fifteen artists; a dialogue that is embodied beyond the connections that the immediate physical cohabitation induces. For About Now #1 is above all a shared and global space; it is a semantic and creative space that carries on in the imagination.
